Hostel-my second home
9/5/20232 min read

The solitude was challenging at times, especially during moments when homesickness knocked on my door. But with each passing day, I discovered that the hostel was not just a place to rest my head; it was a community that embraced me in its fold. The diverse array of backgrounds and cultures that converged within these walls expanded my horizons and enriched my understanding of the world.
The mess hall, a lively hub where we gathered to savor meals together, soon became a melting pot of conversations. Amidst the clatter of cutlery and the aromas of different cuisines, I formed bonds that transcended the superficial and delved into the realm of shared dreams and aspirations. The friends I made were no longer just faces; they were my pillars of support, my confidants, and my partners in navigating the labyrinthine corridors of hostel life.
As the seasons changed and the months melted into each other, I found myself metamorphosing. The challenges that seemed insurmountable in the beginning now felt like stepping stones to growth. The hostel taught me resilience, adaptability, and the art of self-reliance. It became a canvas for personal exploration, a space where I discovered hidden talents, embraced my quirks, and celebrated my uniqueness.
The festivals celebrated within the hostel became cherished memories etched in my heart. Diwali away from home became a vibrant mosaic of twinkling lights and shared sweets. The hostel mates, my surrogate family, turned ordinary days into extraordinary celebrations, infusing each festivity with their own traditions and stories.
And now, as I approach the end of my first year in the hostel, I'm filled with a bittersweet concoction of nostalgia and anticipation. The memories we've created, the laughter we've shared, and the lessons we've learned have left an indelible mark. The hostel is more than just a place of residence; it's a chapter in my life's narrative, a story of growth, friendship, and self-discovery.
As I look back on the past year, I am grateful for the hostel's embrace, for the friendships forged, and for the lessons imparted. And though the journey ahead holds its own set of uncertainties, I am confident that the hostel's legacy will continue to guide me, reminding me of the strength I carry within, the relationships that sustain me, and the essence of "home" that resides within the bonds of a community that has become my extended family.
